Design Your Own Tour

Longhouse Design Your Own Field Trip

Plan a Field Trip that meets the needs and goals of your curriculum by choosing from several hands-on activities for your students.  Rotate between stations or allow students to learn skills during a workshop, either way, this option provides a higher level of participation than a standard Field Trip or Frolic Event.

Choices for 20 minute Station Activities may include:
Baskets, beading, corn husk dolls, clay play, fire making, flint napping, gourds, herbal medicine, hunting,native games, stone cooking, story telling and three Sister’s Garden.

Choices for 90 minute Workshop Activities may include:
baskets, beading, corn husk crafts, clay play, fire making, flint napping, gourds, herbal medicine, native games, spirit bag, stone cooking, story telling.

Rates
$10.00 per Student – grades 4th – 8th – a minimum of 20 students required
$18.00 per Student – grades 9th – 12th – a minimum of 20 students required
FREE – Chaperones (1 adult per 6 students, required)
$4.00 – Additional Adults
Schools need to complete a child protection policy form: visiting-group-signature-form

Herr House Design Your Own Field Trip

Basket making, blacksmith, brooms, butter, colonial clothing, colonial games, colonial lighting, dyeing, farm tasks, food preservation, fraktur, frontier cabin life, hearth cooking, herbal medicine, lathe, laundry, quilting, scherenschnitte, snitzelbank, spinning and weaving.

Choices for 90 minute Workshops may include: basket making, blacksmith, brooms, candles, dyeing, frontier cabin life, hearth cooking, herbal medicine, lathe & snitzelbank, past time activities: fraktur & scherenschnitte, quilting, spinning and weaving.

Local Driving Tour
With the use of your school bus and driver, the Hans Herr House can provide a walk-on guide to lead a Local Tour of old buildings, bridges, mills and cemeteries.
